Fractional customer success leadership

Renewal is the floor. Upsell is the plan.

Named for Scout Finch of To Kill a Mockingbird: curious, direct and unwilling to accept the official story. We read your customer data the same way, turning closed-won deals into growing recurring revenue for B2B SaaS and EdTech.

  1. Closed-wonThe deal is signed. Most teams stop here.
  2. OnboardedA structured path from contract to first value.
  3. AdoptedReal usage across the people who bought it.
  4. RenewedForecast early, with risk surfaced months out.
  5. ExpandedThe signals show who is ready to grow.

Every engagement works this line, left to right.

Who it's for

Senior customer success help, sized to where your team is today.

Outgrowing founder-led accounts

The founder knows every customer by gut. That stops working at scale. Build the system now, while you can still check it against instinct.

Backing your CS leader

Your VP has the strategy but not the bandwidth. Scout builds the health score, playbooks and reporting alongside them, so the team runs on a system instead of heroics.

Between CS leaders

Someone needs to hold renewals steady and keep the team moving while you hire the right permanent leader.

Launching a paid offering

Moving from free, pilot or grant-funded programs to paid subscriptions means building a post-sale motion that didn't exist before.

What Scout Advisory builds

Each piece stands on its own. Most engagements start with a health framework, because everything else depends on knowing which accounts are healthy.

Know your accounts

Customer health frameworks

Define the signals that predict renewal, churn and expansion, then build them into your CRM so risk and opportunity surface early.

Get to value faster

Onboarding and adoption playbooks

A structured path from signed contract to measurable value, including implementation for school and district customers.

Grow the base

Renewals and expansion

Renewal forecasting, risk reviews, and a scoring model that finds the pilots and accounts ready to expand.

Run it well

CS operations

CRM structure, lifecycle sequences, support workflows, executive reporting and AI-assisted account management.

How it works

A typical first engagement

Each one is scoped to your team and your data. You end with a working system your people own and run.

  1. Read the data

Usage, onboarding, support and CRM history. Plus conversations with the people closest to customers.

  2. Find the leaks

Where customers stall between closed-won and full adoption, and which accounts are quietly ready to grow.

  3. Build the playbook

The health score, the plays that follow from it, and the sequences and reports that run them.

  4. Hand it off

Your team runs it with Scout alongside, then on their own. Ongoing fractional support if you want it.

About

Who you'd work with

Every engagement is led by Nick Trusty and built around your team, your customers and the data you already have. The goal is a system your people own and keep running after the engagement ends.

Nick has done this work from both sides of the table. As a co-founder of Alumni Spaces, a SaaS platform for universities, he built customer success from scratch and kept every national client for five years. At a leading literacy nonprofit, he led a 35-person post-sale organization serving K-12 districts across the country, covering onboarding, adoption, renewals, expansion and AI enablement.

That means someone who will join customer calls, dig into the account data, and build the first version with your team so they can scale it.
